Thirty years of business experience as a CEO, General Manager Marketing and General Manager Corporate Strategy is what you get from David Weston the founder of WBI. Services are tailored to your unique situation - no standard approaches or off-the-shelf solutions - we listen, research, question, analyse and advise.
Our clients are often CEOs seeking an alternative perspective. Here are some examples of our approach:
Cross boarder education is reported to be a $US1.5 trillion business.  The growth over the past ten years has been truly amazing.  In 2000 as the head of an Australian vocational college I took the bold step to set up a partnership between my college and the Shanghai University in China.  That partnership has blossomed and now the Australia college delivers in Nanjing, Hangzhou and Macau.

We get an enormous pleasure from working with new start-up business.  Every one represents a new challenge and an opportunity to broaden our own horizons.
Thirty years plus of business experience helps.  We have experienced the ups and downs of the market, the growth of new industries and the decline of others but this one remains constant; markets are driven by the needs and desires of customers.   We help in the following ways:

  • Market Demand Analysis. The idea might sound fine but where is the market, how can it be segmented, what is the competitive landscape.  Much of this can be found through desk top research using available data from government sources or located through the internet.  We know where to look and what is of value.
  • Finding the Right Contractors. As a CEO and Marketing Manager, I have used publicists, graphic designers, advertising agents, accountants, auditors, legal advisors, human resource specialists, incentive house and numerous other specialists.  When we walk a client through the door of one of our associates, the client benefits from relationships and trust that go back many years.

WBI has facilitated partnerships between government educational institutions and private vocational training businesses in

  • Documenting strategic plans. Our client, a newly appointed CEO, knew the direction he wanted to take the business. Time pressures meant he was struggling to gather the research and put it into a cohesive strategy document.  We were called and within a month he presented his plan to the Board.
  • Business Evaluation. The client had identified a number of investment opportunities.  One, while small, needed to be addressed urgently but the CEO was focussed on bigger priorities. We were brought in to undertake an initial evaluation and prepare a Board report recommending the acquisition.

  • Compliance Review. The CEO of a government owned trading enterprise had received a customer complaint but recognised it may be symptomatic of a deeper issue.  We were called in to undertake an investigation of the complaint and interview stakeholders.  The result was the uncovering of broader compliance failures which were quickly remedied.
  • Reviewing Internet strategies. The CEO of a publishing business knew his current business was under threat but his team were busy keeping the established business running at a profit. All the time new competitors were stealing the march in the on-line space.  We had the time capacity to sit back and review the business strategies of the competitive landscape and give recommendations on the way forward.  .
  • Operational Reviews. On numerous occasions CEOs have brought us in to conduct operational reviews to find ways to improve customer engagement, achieve improved productivity or just challenge the status quo.

China, India and Singapore delivering competency based vocational training that meets the skills need in these economic powerhouses.  Courses include auto mechanic, retail management, English as a second language, hairdressing, trichology and hotel management.

The solution offered by WBI reduces the cost of international marketing for the Australian partner and minimizes the risk in partner selection.
The international partners benefit from our local connections and standing.

The establishment of global partnerships requires nurturing and clarity in understanding the needs and aspirations of each partly.  It all comes down to relationships or as our clients in China say, "guanxi"

  • Commissioning Market Research. Our clients are often not familiar with qualitative and quantitative analysis.  We act as interpreters and guides.
